Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed a phone call with US leader Donald Trump. During the conversation, the heads of state discussed key aspects of conflict resolution, as well as the details of an upcoming personal meeting at the G7 summit.

As reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the Ukrainian leader's Telegram post, the conversation took place in a positive tone. Zelenskyy congratulated Trump on his birthday and expressed hope for his success in resolving the issue of ending Russia's war against Ukraine.

Discussing Paths to Peace

The central theme of the dialogue was achieving peace. Zelenskyy noted that the sides discussed specific steps that could bring peace closer right now. The Ukrainian leader informed Trump about recent events on the battlefield and the strengthening of the Ukrainian army's positions.

"We have some good ideas that can help bring peace closer and protect lives," Zelenskyy summarized, adding that details would be discussed during the personal meeting.

Gratitude for Military Aid

During the conversation, the President of Ukraine expressed gratitude for the support provided by the United States. Zelenskyy emphasized that Kyiv remembers every step of assistance, from Javelin anti-tank systems to Patriot air defense systems.

Meeting at the G7 Summit

The parties agreed to continue discussing security issues and peaceful settlement at the G7 summit, which begins tomorrow in France. Earlier, media reported that Trump had no plans for a separate meeting with Zelenskyy, but now this format has been confirmed.

According to Politico, Ukraine and European partners plan to use the summit to convince Trump of the need to accelerate missile and air defense system deliveries, resume support, and increase economic pressure on Russia to begin good-faith negotiations.
