Signals from the Kremlin: Who in Putin's circle wants peace?
The evening address by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sparked discussion about an unexpected factor in the current geopolitical situation. The head of state declared that among the inner circle of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, there are those who support Ukraine's intention to end the war. According to Zelenskyy, the understanding of the necessity of peace is penetrating even into Russian elites, where they realize there is no alternative to negotiations.
"We have made proposals on how to bring peace closer. We have support not only among partners around the world, but also among Putin's circle regarding peace. They understand what is happening and that peace has no alternative," emphasized the Ukrainian leader.
Fuel crisis as a response to Putin's unwillingness
Zelenskyy links the deepening fuel crisis in Russia to regular strikes by the Ukrainian armed forces. He called this a response to the Kremlin's unwillingness to go for peace. "This is how Ukrainian warriors respond to Putin's unwillingness to end the war," noted the President.
According to him, Ukrainian long-range strikes have already reached several regions of Russia, as well as objects in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. These actions, in Kyiv's opinion, demonstrate the country's ability to exert pressure on the enemy's infrastructure and thereby influence the internal situation in the Russian Federation.
Putin rejects a freeze: the goal is all of Donbas
According to Reuters sources, Vladimir Putin's advisers offered him to stop the war along the front line. However, the head of the Kremlin rejected this idea, as he aims to capture all of Donbas. This casts doubt on the possibility of quickly achieving peace through compromise if one of the parties insists on maximalist demands.
At the same time, Zelenskyy previously stated that the fastest path to peace is freezing the front line. In his opinion, this approach will allow to stop the bloodshed and create conditions for future negotiations.
Realism of the Ukrainian proposal
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha emphasized that Kyiv's proposal to end the war is realistic for Putin's regime. "We are giving a chance to avoid collapse," noted the diplomat. According to him, the Ukrainian side is ready for dialogue, but only on the condition of respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country.
Thus, despite the harsh rhetoric and ongoing hostilities, Kyiv sees signs that even within the Russian leadership, the inevitability of peace is beginning to be realized. The question is only whether this signal can lead to real changes in the Kremlin's policy.
