Vladimir Zelenskyy did not hide the fact: his appeal to Donald Trump is not just a diplomatic gesture, but a forced measure. In conditions where the war in Europe is entering its fifth year, and Russia continues to launch mass ballistic missile strikes, the President of Ukraine believes that waiting any longer is impossible. "We must act promptly" — this phrase became the leitmotif of his statement.
Usually, state leaders do not write letters simultaneously to the President and the US Congress. But Zelenskyy violated this unwritten protocol. Why? Because now at stake is not only the fate of Ukraine, but also the security of all of Europe. And because the world's attention has shifted — now everyone is looking at the Middle East, at the war in Iran. Meanwhile, a bloody slaughter continues in Europe, which cannot be ignored.
"We need to stop the war here, in Europe," Zelenskyy stated. He emphasized that as long as Russia relies on missiles, its interest in diplomacy is not genuine. And this situation can only be changed together with America. Without its resolve, without additional air defense means, and without pressure on the Kremlin, diplomacy will not work.
In the letter, the President warned of a critical shortage of air defense systems. On the night of May 24, Russian forces used two "Oreshnik" ballistic missiles — one struck the Kyiv region, the second fell on the occupied territory of the Donetsk region. Analysts predict that such attacks may occur every two to three weeks.
Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the USA for its support, but added: "It will be even more grateful for a decent peace and guaranteed security." All this is possible — if there is enough resolve. And that is exactly why he wrote to Trump. Not as a politician, but as a person who understands: time is running out, and the price of inaction is too high.
