According to him, preserving human lives is a priority, and a ceasefire could be a more preferable scenario than a multi-year war in pursuit of military victory.

The head of state emphasized that no one in Ukraine has given up the desire to win, but the price of such a victory cannot be measured by endless human losses. Zelenskyy stated directly that if a ceasefire can be achieved tomorrow, it would be better than fighting for 10–20 years for victory and losing people.
"If tomorrow we can achieve a ceasefire, it will be better than fighting for 10–20 years for victory and losing our people," the president emphasized.
Change in Donald Trump's Position
Zelenskyy also stated that over the past period, US President Donald Trump has changed his attitude towards Ukraine. In his opinion, the American leader has realized that it is Russia that is not interested in stopping the war, while Ukraine is striving for peace.
"The President understood who actually does not want to stop the war. He understood that we really want peace. Previously, there were voices saying that Ukraine does not want to stop the war," Zelenskyy said.
Trust and Personal Dialogue
The President noted that the gradual building of trust in communication with Donald Trump played an important role. He believes that the American leader has begun to trust him, and this was important for understanding the situation.
"I think President Trump has started to trust me. And that was important... I tried to explain the situation step by step. I think he understood me very well," Zelenskyy stated.
Response to the Question on Sanctions
During the interview, the president was asked to comment on Donald Trump's statement about possible tightening of sanctions against Russia and Iran following the death of Senator Lindsey Graham. In response, Zelenskyy focused not on sanctions policy, but on the issue of ending the war, emphasizing that the main priority for Ukraine remains the preservation of human lives and the achievement of peace.
