In a rare interview, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed details of his personal life, speaking about the fate of his eldest daughter, Alexandra. The head of state shared with journalists how his 21-year-old daughter is coping with her studies and daily life under the conditions of a full-scale war.
Academic achievements and future plans
During a conversation that took place in the courtyard of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Zelenskyy spoke about a significant stage in Alexandra's life. The young woman successfully passed her final university exam, receiving a grade of "excellent." Alexandra is studying at the Faculty of Law and is completing her bachelor's degree this year.
According to her father, the daughter plans to continue her studies in a master's program. The President considers this the right decision, as it will allow her to obtain a full higher education.
"My daughter is 21 years old. She had her last exam, she passed it with an 'excellent'. She is a graduate. I think she will go to a master's program. Well, she decides for herself. It seems to me that she wants to. That is correct, it will already be a full higher education," the RBC-Ukraine publication quotes the head of state.
Father-daughter relationship
Zelenskyy noted that he tries to maintain a friendly relationship with his daughter and is interested in her life, despite a tight schedule. He emphasized that communicating with an adult person is important to him.
"We are friends with her. I am more interested, actually, there is no time, and I really want to communicate with an adult person," the president admitted.
Life during the war
Volodymyr Zelenskyy paid special attention to the fact that Alexandra remains in Ukraine. He believes that the war forces children to grow up faster, and it is of fundamental importance to him that his daughter understands the realities of what is happening while being in the country, rather than learning about events through rumors.
"Without reproaches to other families. For me, it is very important that she study at a university here, in Ukraine. It is important not to learn about what is happening in your country through rumors, but to be here during the war," the head of state noted.
The President also told how his daughter reacts to security threats. Alexandra takes air raids seriously and regularly goes down to shelters. Zelenskyy said that they often exchange messages to check on each other.
"She is such a girl, she goes to bomb shelters. She writes to me very often: 'Hi, where are you?'. I say: 'And you?'. And she: 'We are in the basement, everything is fine'. She reacts herself. She has a younger brother, and she is an example for him," the president shared.
Recall that Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska raise two children: 21-year-old Alexandra and 13-year-old Kyrylo. The family rarely shares details of their personal life, but from time to time tells about their children in interviews.
