An important meeting took place in Kyiv concerning personnel issues in the military sphere. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a joint press conference with Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin, clarified the fate of the retired heads of the armed forces.
Experience remains within the system
The head of state stated that the former Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, and the former Chief of the General Staff, Andriy Hnatov, do not plan to retire. Instead of resting, they are set for active work in transferring their accumulated experience to the new leadership.
Zelenskyy particularly noted the high professionalism of the retired generals. According to him, Oleksandr Syrsky possesses "very strong" experience, and under his leadership, "very professional operations" were conducted. In the president's opinion, this wealth of knowledge is critically important for the current situation.
Knowledge transfer mechanism
The leader of Ukraine formulated the task clearly: Syrsky and Hnatov must assist the new command. Specifically, they will conduct meetings and advise the new Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces — Mykhailo Drapatsky.
"We all understand this, so, of course, we will ensure that both Oleksandr Stanislavovych and Andriy Hnatov, so to speak, do not rest but pass on their experience to the new command," RBC-Ukraine quotes the president.
Thus, the resignation of key figures does not mean a break with past experience. On the contrary, a system is being created where war veterans continue to influence strategy and tactics through mentorship and direct consultations with the current leadership.
