In a recent interview with Fox News, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy publicly thanked US First Lady Melania Trump for coordinating the humanitarian operation in the occupied town of Oleshky, Kherson Region. According to the Head of State, the temporary ceasefire, which had been in effect since October 27, made it possible to deliver critical aid and evacuate about 800 civilians from the danger zone.

Humanitarian corridor and resident evacuation

As reported by RBC-Ukraine, the local agreement on a temporary humanitarian truce in Oleshky was implemented under the direct coordination of Melania Trump. As a result of the operation, critical humanitarian aid was delivered to the region, and about 800 civilians were evacuated from the combat zone. Zelenskyy stressed that such work is important and stated that he is “very grateful” to the US First Lady for her assistance.

Expectations for new local truces

Commenting on the possibility of expanding a similar format to other sections of the front with the participation of the US First Lady, Zelenskyy admitted that it is currently difficult to predict how many such initiatives can be implemented. At the same time, he noted the importance of such work and expressed hope that Melania Trump could continue coordinating humanitarian operations. “If the First Lady can do this, can continue, it will be very useful,” the president stated.

AFU General Staff assessment: silence used for fortification

In parallel with the humanitarian aspect, the operation received another assessment. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the Russian army used the silence regime in Oleshky to set up and strengthen positions. According to the agency, during the truce, the enemy rotated units, expanded the network of anti-drone facilities on roads, and built up logistics, including the delivery of ammunition. Thus, the humanitarian effect of the operation coexists with the military conclusions drawn by the Ukrainian command.
