Ukraine is radically changing its defense strategy, betting on domestic developments and aggressive diplomacy. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the decision to accelerate the testing and production of domestic ballistic missiles, as well as anti-aircraft defense systems.
In the coming days, the search for additional air defense means will become the main focus of the work of Ukrainian diplomats. The head of state reported this in his official Telegram channel, RBC-Ukraine reports.
Revision of defense potential
The adoption of this decision was the result of a special review of the capabilities of the Ukrainian defense industry (MIC). During the analysis, clear steps were identified to intensify the missile program. Zelenskyy thanked the specialists who are working on creating an effective Ukrainian ballistic and anti-ballistic system.
"I am grateful to all our specialists who are developing our missile program and working, in particular, on the production of an effective Ukrainian ballistic and anti-ballistic system," the president emphasized.
Diplomacy for sky protection
In addition to developing its own weapons, at a recent meeting, the schedules and volumes of air defense supplies from international partners were discussed in detail. In the face of daily threats, ensuring sky protection has become a critically important issue.
According to Zelenskyy, in the coming days, the key priority in all meetings and negotiations will be given to air defense. Diplomatic work will be aimed at obtaining the necessary resources to protect cities and critical infrastructure.
Joint projects and new technologies
In the field of anti-aircraft defense, Ukraine is actively looking for ways to achieve technological independence. Earlier, it became known about the creation of a joint air defense system with Germany. The goal of this project is to develop a purely European product for combating ballistic missiles. The initiative is dictated by the need to reduce dependence on foreign technologies, such as American Patriot complexes or the Israeli Arrow system.
The Ukrainian defense sector is also implementing the latest developments. In particular, laser air defense and interceptor drones are already being tested. Developers report the first successful results of testing these systems, which are designed to intercept enemy attacks.
Development of offensive potential
Parallel to defense, the domestic offensive potential is also developing. According to Western media, Ukraine may have struck Russian territory for the first time with its own long-range ballistic missile.
This information was indirectly confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defense, stating that a long-range operational-tactical missile was shot down. However, official Kyiv has not yet confirmed the use of its ballistic weapons, leaving the situation in a zone of uncertainty.
