AI Protein "Scissors": Baker Lab Creates Proteases with a 10-Billion-Fold Reaction Acceleration
David Baker's laboratory used AI tools RFdiffusion2, ProteinMPNN, and AlphaFold3 to design artificial proteases that accelerate peptide bond cleavage by up to 10 billion times. The created enzymes can cleave proteins associated with Alzheimer's disease and frontotemporal dementia.
