The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has published guidelines for kindergartens during the 2026-2027 heating season amid blackouts, granting directors the right to shorten working hours.

In Kyiv kindergartens, 17,700 children aged 5–6 are learning English. The capital has created 236 full-time teacher positions and equipped 259 specialized classrooms.

Kyiv has launched a pilot project: nine nursery groups for children from six months old are now operating in five districts of the capital. The KCSA initiative is aimed at enabling parents to return to work earlier and adapting the preschool network to demographic changes.

The Deputy Minister of Education of Ukraine has announced a 20% salary increase for kindergarten teachers starting in January 2027. The resolution has been prepared but is not yet approved. This is a continuation of the reform started in 2026.

From September 2026, studying English will become mandatory for children aged 5-6 in Ukraine. More than 75% of kindergartens are ready for the reform, and distance formats will be used in case of a shortage of teachers.

New building norms for kindergartens come into force in Ukraine on October 1, 2026 🏗️.
