In the 4th round of the Champions League, Donetsk Shakhtar lost 0:1 to Sporting in a nominally home match in London. Doumbia scored the only goal in the 59th minute, and the "Miners" failed to equalize.

Paulo Fonseca reacted emotionally to Lyon's win over Angers (2:0) and, according to 20 Minutes, hinted at his departure in the dressing room. Sporting has officially parted ways with Rui Borges, while Portuguese media report an agreement with Fonseca.

Slovak referee Ivan Kruzliak has been appointed as the main referee for the Champions League match between Shakhtar and Sporting. For the 42-year-old referee, this is not his first meeting with the Donetsk club in European competition.

According to L'Equipe, Lisbon's Sporting has opened negotiations with Lyon over the appointment of Paulo Fonseca as head coach. The Portuguese manager could return to his home league for the first time since 2016.
