Service members of the 157th Separate Mechanized Brigade have received a large-scale batch of specialized equipment from the Steel Front military initiative by Rinat Akhmetov. The new aid package includes a powerful Volvo truck tractor, a Faun RTF 40-3 truck crane, and a specialized Istrail Maskintrailer trailer. The total cost of this delivery exceeded 10.4 million hryvnias, with over 2.4 million hryvnias allocated specifically for the trailer. The new equipment is designed for the rapid evacuation of damaged vehicles from the battlefield, heavy transport operations, and quality field repairs.

Purpose and Specifications of New Evacuation Equipment

To effectively restore the combat readiness of mechanized units, it is critical not only to receive new vehicles but also to be able to maintain them after intensive use or damage. The Volvo FH16 750 truck tractor transferred to the military is equipped with a 750-horsepower engine and an 8x4 wheel formula, allowing it to handle extremely heavy loads as part of a road train. Combined with the trailer, this transport will be used to haul oversized and non-self-propelled equipment, as well as various engineering gear.

Truck Crane for Field Repair and Assembly Work

The second key element of the provided aid is the Faun RTF 40-3 truck crane, featuring a maximum lifting capacity of up to 40 tons and a telescopic boom length of up to 30 meters. This unit can perform complex loading, unloading, and assembly operations, including the dismantling and lifting of heavy assemblies and units during armored vehicle maintenance. The actual permissible lifting weight depends directly on the boom reach and specific operating conditions on site. The interaction between the truck tractor and the crane enables the brigade's repair units to comprehensively address logistics and equipment restoration tasks.

Systemic Support for Defense Forces and Aid Scale

The delivered batch of special equipment is part of a large-scale and regular support program for the 157th OMBr by SCM businesses. Throughout the cooperation, the total amount of aid provided to the brigade by the Steel Front has reached 234 million hryvnias, with 76.6 million hryvnias coming in 2026 alone. Previously, the unit received truck tractors with semi-trailers, trucks, pickups, minibuses, ATVs, Starlink Mini terminals, and simulator equipment from the initiative. Having its own specialized transport allows military engineers to return damaged vehicles to service faster and maintain high unit mobility.

Significance of Enhancing the Brigade's Technical Potential

Acquiring heavy truck tractors and lifting cranes significantly increases the autonomy and technical potential of the 157th OMBr in the field. The ability to independently evacuate heavy vehicles and perform their repairs accelerates the return of equipment to the front line. Investments in rear support and the repair base directly impact the combat capability of army formations, reducing dependence on third-party logistics and increasing responsiveness to technical malfunctions in modern combat conditions.
