The system for admission to Ukrainian universities has received an important update: applicants planning to study for a master's or doctoral degree in 2026 will have the opportunity to retake the Unified Entrance Exam (UEE). The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has approved an order to conduct specially organized sessions, opening new prospects for those who were unable to demonstrate their knowledge during the main session.

The decision to introduce additional sessions was made by the Ukrainian Center for Assessment of Education Quality (UCAEQ). This new measure aims to provide students with flexibility in planning their careers. Now, retaking the exam is available not only to those who missed the main exam for valid reasons but also to those who intentionally wish to improve their score to gain admission to a more prestigious university or a competitive specialty.

Financial conditions and registration deadlines

It is important to understand that specially organized sessions will be conducted on a paid basis. The UCAEQ clarified that expenses will be covered by funds from individuals and legal entities. The exact cost of participating in the exam will be announced by August 5. This will allow applicants to plan their budget in advance and make a well-considered decision regarding the expediency of retaking the exam.

The organizational process will take place within a tight timeframe. Registration for special sessions will open on August 7 and will last exactly ten days — until August 17 inclusive. To register, applicants must personally contact the admissions committee of the higher education institution where they plan to enroll.

Waiting for results and exceptions

After taking the exam, participants will not have to wait too long. Results, calculated on a scale from 100 to 200 points, will be published in electronic cabinets on the official UCAEQ website by September 21. This will allow for the timely submission of documents and the completion of the enrollment process.

However, it is worth noting that the new measure applies exclusively to the UEE. The Ukrainian Center for Assessment of Education Quality emphasized that specially organized sessions for the Unified Professional Entrance Exam (UPEE) and the Unified Entrance Exam on Methodology of Scientific Research are not provided for in the current year. Applicants applying under these directions will have to rely on the standard exam schedule.
