Ukrainian defense forces have achieved a tactical success in the north of the Kharkiv region, conducting a successful operation to clear a forested area east of Vovchansk. According to an analytical report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Ukrainian units operating in the sector have regained control over approximately 10 square kilometers of territory located northeast of Vovchanski Khutory.
Operation details and counteroffensive
According to the Ukrainian brigade carrying out tasks in this sector, the campaign to expel the enemy has been ongoing since June 10. During the hostilities, Ukrainian soldiers managed to neutralize or force the retreat of three tactical groups of the Russian army that had previously attempted to infiltrate this area. This local success is an important element in stabilizing the front line in the Kharkiv border region.
Contradictory data
Despite the success of the AFU, the situation remains dynamic and extremely tense. ISW analysts point to geolocation data confirming a possible advance of Russian troops in the northeastern part of Vovchansk itself, as well as north of the settlements of Vovchanski Khutory and Zybine. Thus, the report records parallel processes: local Ukrainian counterattacks and persistent enemy pressure.
Operational situation on the front
Parallel to the events near Vovchansk, intense combat operations have been recorded in the Lyman direction. It is reported that the Third Army Corps of the AFU was able to regain control over several settlements, including Nove, Ridkodub, Katerynivka, Karpivka, and Novomykhailivka, taking a significant number of enemy personnel prisoner. These successes are accompanied by the effective performance of air defense systems during Operation Vivaldi.
Experts note that against the backdrop of active Ukrainian assaults, the Russian command is facing distorted reporting: on the ground, field commanders often report holding positions that have actually already come under the control of Ukrainian assault units.
