Late in the evening on November 1, 2026, Ukraine's state Air Raid Alert app (also known as "Trevoha!") stopped working. According to the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the outage was caused by a cyberattack on the service's infrastructure. The agency promptly published clarifications on how citizens can continue to receive information about air threats in their city even when the mobile app is unavailable. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Ministry's official Telegram channel.
What Happened to the App
The Ministry of Digital Transformation confirmed that the Air Raid Alert app is temporarily out of service as a result of a cyberattack. At the same time, the agency emphasized that a lack of access to one notification channel does not mean losing the ability to learn about approaching danger: the state emergency alert system, sirens, and official military channels continue to operate normally. Thus, citizens retain several independent ways to receive an air raid signal.
Emergency Alerts on Smartphones
The first and, according to the Ministry, most accessible method is to enable state emergency alerts on your smartphone. These messages arrive even in silent mode and with the "Do Not Disturb" mode turned on, ensuring timely receipt of the signal. For iOS devices, the procedure is as follows: open "Settings," go to "Notifications," scroll down, and enable the toggles under "Emergency Alerts." For Android: go to "Settings," find "Passwords and Security" or "Security and Emergency," then open "Emergency Alerts" and turn them on; on some devices, this option is located under "Location" and may be called "Air raid alerts in Ukraine." Menu item names may vary depending on the device model and firmware version.
Sirens and Official Air Force Channels
The second channel is sound signals. The Ministry reminded that sirens and other warning systems are operating normally: upon hearing an air raid signal or receiving an official message about it, one must immediately head to the nearest shelter and stay there until the official all-clear. The third source of verified information on air threats and the movement of hostile targets is the official Telegram, WhatsApp, and Viber channels of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The agency urges citizens to rely specifically on these verified sources rather than unverified reports on social media.
For Kyiv Residents
Separately for capital residents, the Ministry pointed out the "Kyiv Digital" app, which continues to operate normally and through which residents can receive air raid notifications in Kyiv. Thus, even if the main Air Raid Alert app is unavailable, capital residents retain an additional local notification channel. The combination of emergency alerts, sirens, Air Force channels, and city apps ensures, according to the agency, the continuity of informing the population about air threats during the outage period.
