Amid massive attacks by Russia, Ukrainian citizens are advised to use the official «Air Raid Alert» application for quick orientation in the air situation. This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, emphasizing that the app provides visualization of air threats, allowing users to quickly assess the situation during drone strikes. «In connection with the massive attack by enemy strike UAVs, for convenience and operational orientation, we recommend using the official application», the department stated.
What the App Shows
The «Air Raid Alert» app integrates a map of the approximate movement of Russian missiles and drones, which, according to Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky, was added on October 17. It displays various types of air targets and allows the user to see the general picture of the attack across regions. At the same time, as the Air Force clarifies, the map does not show the exact real-time location of targets and does not convey the full ballistics of their flight.
What the App Lacks and Why
A key limitation of the tool is the lack of information about the threat of ballistic weapons and the direction of ballistic missiles. Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat explained this for a technical reason: ballistic missiles are not displayed in the app due to their high flight speed, which makes displaying them on the map in real time impractical.
Where to Find Ballistics Data
The Air Force continues to publish operational data on ballistic missiles and other air threats in its official channels on Telegram, WhatsApp, and Viber. The department calls these messengers the main source of up-to-date information on air threats, complementing the functionality of the mobile app.
Recommendations for Citizens
The Air Force urged Ukrainians to stay in safe places and necessarily respond to danger signals. Using the «Air Raid Alert» app in conjunction with official messenger channels, according to the department, increases the speed of orientation and allows timely protective measures to be taken during massive strike drone attacks.
