On July 17, the city of Izyum in the Kharkiv region once again became a target of Russian attacks. Explosions were heard over the settlement during the day as Russian aircraft dropped aviation bombs on the city. As a result of the strikes, civilians were injured, including children.

Severe injuries to minors

Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, confirmed the information about the injured on Facebook. According to him, two children were injured as a result of the use of free-fall bombs (KAB) by Russian military personnel.

The situation with the injured is developing rapidly. An 8-year-old boy sustained severe blast injuries. A 16-year-old girl was hospitalized with a glass injury, as shards flew upon the explosion. All injured persons are receiving emergency medical assistance.

Psychological trauma and new victims

Some time later, at 17:43, Syniehubov updated the data on victims. Another child — a 13-year-old girl — appeared on the list of injured. She did not sustain physical injuries but experienced an acute stress reaction to the events. Medical personnel provided her with the necessary assistance.

History of tragedies in Izyum

Attacks on Izyum are not isolated incidents. The city is regularly subjected to shelling that claims the lives of civilians. At the end of last December, a 47-year-old man and his 42-year-old wife, who worked in the police, were killed as a result of shelling.

Tragic events had occurred previously as well. In December 2025, rescuers were forced to extricate the bodies of two people from a private residential house destroyed by Russian aviation bombs. During the same period, on December 5, a Russian attack drone hit a truck, leading to the deaths of two men aged 52 and 67.
