Final Broadcast: From News to Trenches
A major news story has shaken the Ukrainian media landscape, sparking widespread discussion on social networks. Andriana Kucher, one of the most recognizable anchors of the '24 Channel', has officially concluded her career in journalism. In her final broadcast, held on July 31, 2026, she thanked her colleagues and viewers for six years of collaboration, noting that she is drawing a line under this stage of her professional life.
"Take care of yourselves and our country," were the anchor's final words, as she chose the path of service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of her usual studio work.
Plan B: Uncertainty at the Ministry of Defense
Initially, the journalist planned to sign a combat contract and report for duty at the beginning of August. However, plans had to be adjusted due to massive personnel reshuffles within the defense department. At the end of July, significant changes occurred in the Ukrainian government: a new Cabinet of Ministers was formed, and Major General Mykhailo Drapaty took the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, replacing Oleksandr Syrsky.
The new army leadership initiated a total audit and review of human resources. Since July 26, a moratorium on the staffing of assault regiments of the Ground Forces has been introduced at the Ministry of Defense. In light of this, Kucher decided to temporarily adopt a wait-and-see approach.
"What's next? Total uncertainty. I will wait until the situation around the Ministry of Defense settles and the fate of the new contracts becomes clear," the anchor wrote on her Instagram. At the same time, she emphasized that her decision is unshakable: "Essentially, there are two options: either in the army or for the troops".
Media Mobilization and New Realities
Andriana Kucher's decision fits into the general strategy of the President's Office to attract public and motivated individuals to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. While the Ukrainian economy faces inflation challenges and security structures receive new incentives for combat operations, the participation of media personalities is viewed as a powerful tool for popularizing recruitment.
It is expected that after the completion of reforms in the Ministry of Defense, Kucher will take up a position related to strategic communications or information counteraction within specialized units of the Special Operations Forces.
