In 2027, Apple plans to overhaul its entire iPad tablet lineup in a single package, with the company aiming to release three models at once, ranging from the affordable base iPad to the flagship iPad Pro. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine citing an analytical report by Mark Gurman for the Bloomberg news agency. According to the source, the update will affect the base iPad, the sub-flagship iPad Air, and the top-tier iPad Pro, making 2027 one of the most action-packed years for Apple's tablet division in recent memory.

Base iPad: A19 Chip, 8GB RAM, and Apple Intelligence Support

The main upgrade for the entry-level model will be a transition to the more powerful A19 processor and an increase in RAM to 8GB. According to analysts, this specific set of specifications will enable the base iPad to run Apple Intelligence features, which were previously restricted to more expensive devices. Furthermore, the base model will integrate new proprietary components: Apple's own 5G modem and Wi-Fi 7 support, reducing the company's reliance on external chip suppliers and enhancing the tablet's connectivity capabilities.

iPad Air Transitions to OLED Display

The sub-flagship iPad Air, according to the report, will receive an OLED screen, bringing its image quality in line with the recently released iPad mini. Alongside the new display, the model is slated for a processor upgrade, helping close the performance gap between the Air and the flagship Pro. Thus, Apple is effectively bringing the premium panel technology from a compact device down to the more mainstream segment of its lineup.

iPad Pro: M6 or M7 Chip and First Vapor Chamber

The flagship iPad Pro, according to Gurman, will transition from the M5 processor to a newer M6 or M7 chip. A key engineering novelty will be the inclusion of a specialized vapor chamber inside the chassis — a first for the lineup. This solution is designed to combat high heat dissipation during heavy computational workloads and artificial intelligence tasks, which are becoming increasingly resource-intensive.

Competitive Pressure and the Role of the iPad Lineup

Analysts warn that the new tablets will have to fight for consumer attention under tougher conditions: other Apple products are launching simultaneously, including a new touch-enabled MacBook Pro, the HomeView smart home display, and updated smartphones. Nevertheless, with sales volumes of around 60 million units per year, the iPad lineup remains one of the company's most crucial products, and its comprehensive 2027 refresh is expected to solidify Apple's standing in the tablet market.
