The Dutch company ASML, a global monopolist in the production of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, has announced a large-scale reward program for its employees. Against the backdrop of explosive growth in demand for artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, management has decided to pay a one-time bonus of 20,000 euros to each employee. However, the payment will not be made in cash but in the form of company shares.

Loyalty program conditions

According to Bloomberg, the shares will be granted to employees on January 1. However, the right to their final ownership will only be secured at the beginning of 2030. This means that the program is long-term and requires employees to remain with the company throughout this period. The initiative covers all ASML personnel worldwide, numbering around 45,000 people.

Industry reaction to the AI boom

The decision by ASML is part of a general trend in the semiconductor industry, where companies benefiting significantly from investments in AI infrastructure are beginning to redistribute part of their income to employees. Similar measures have already been taken by other market giants:

  • Samsung Electronics and SK hynix have already offered bonus payments to their employees.
  • TSMC announced in May an increase in profit-sharing payments by more than 30% on average for the current year.

Growing demand and capacity expansion

Earlier this week, ASML raised its annual sales forecast for the second time since the beginning of the year. At the same time, the company announced plans to expand its production capacity to meet the growing demand for its equipment. Without ASML systems, it is impossible to produce modern processors for Apple devices, Nvidia graphics cards, as well as chips for data centers and artificial intelligence systems. Thus, the current situation demonstrates a direct link between the development of AI technologies and economic bonuses for employees of key technology companies.
