Attack on TCC in Novovolynsk: Two Soldiers Injured, Attacker Arrested

On August 12, 2026, an incident involving the use of a cold weapon occurred in the city of Novovolynsk, Volyn region, against employees of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCC and SP). According to the Operational Command "West", during a document verification operation, a local resident inflicted knife wounds on two soldiers. The attacker was detained by officers of the National Police of Ukraine.

According to an official statement from the OC "West", the incident occurred during notification and document verification activities. A citizen inflicted knife wounds on two soldiers. One of the victims sustained a penetrating abdominal wound and was urgently hospitalized. His condition is assessed by doctors as critical. The second soldier sustained a hand wound; he received necessary medical assistance, and his condition is classified as satisfactory. The relevant department clarified that both soldiers had previously participated in combat operations and were transferred to service at the TCC and SP due to health conditions.

Officers of the National Police of Ukraine detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, which regulates detention by an authorized official without a court order directly at the time of the crime or immediately thereafter. Encroachment on the life or health of a soldier while performing official duties entails responsibility in accordance with the current Criminal Code of Ukraine.
