On the night of November 7, 2026, Russian forces launched an attack on the energy infrastructure of the Vinnytsia region. According to RBC-Ukraine, this was reported on Telegram by Nataliia Zabolotna, Head of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration (RSA). As a result of the shelling, one person was wounded and hospitalized in critical condition. According to the head of the RSA, the victim is under medical supervision and receiving all necessary assistance.
Nature of the attack and the victim
According to the regional authorities, the strike targeted the region's energy facilities. The only confirmed civilian casualty is one person, whose condition is assessed by medics as critical. He was taken to the hospital, where medical assistance continues to be provided. Official data on other casualties or the exact number of damaged energy facilities was not available at the time of publication.
Damage to civil infrastructure
In addition to energy facilities, civil infrastructure was also damaged during the attack. Specifically, the building of a fire station and the territory of a local market were hit. Due to subsequent fires, several private cars and a retail kiosk were destroyed, and windows in buildings were blown out. Relevant services continue to work at the scenes to eliminate the consequences of the Russian attack.
Power supply disruptions
As a result of damage to energy facilities, power supply disruptions occurred in the Vinnytsia region. According to the regional administration, energy workers are working to restore electricity supplies. Thus, the infrastructure strike directly affected the living conditions of the region's residents.
Context: series of energy strikes and consequences in other regions
On the morning of November 7, following the night attack, emergency power outages were introduced in Kyiv. Due to the difficult situation in the power grid, disruptions in heat and water supply also occurred. In Chernihiv that same morning, due to an accident at a power supply facility, the city was completely left without electricity: about 150,000 consumers in the Chernihiv and Koryukivka districts, as well as in Chernihiv and Slavutych, were left without power, though some consumers have already been reconnected. The Vinnytsia region has previously appeared among regions where energy strikes caused the most difficult power supply situations, indicating the systemic nature of attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
