The night of July 19 became a time of serious trial for the capital of Ukraine. Russian forces launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv. As a result of the attack, impacts and falling debris were recorded in five administrative districts of the city: Shevchenkivskyi, Solomianskyi, Dniprovskyi, Desnyanskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi.
Updated data on casualties and injured
As rescuers clear the rubble and assess the scale of destruction, information on the injured is being updated. Earlier, one fatality was reported. However, the State Emergency Service (SES) has updated the data: the number of people injured as a result of the Russian attack has increased to 15.
Progress of emergency rescue operations
At the moment, the liquidation of the strike consequences continues. The most significant damage was sustained by residential buildings in the Shevchenkivskyi and Solomianskyi districts. It is here that the main efforts of the firefighters are concentrated.
In the Shevchenkivskyi district, rescuers localized fires in non-residential buildings, as well as in open areas. In the Solomianskyi district, emergency crews continue work at the site of damage to a five-story residential building. At the same time, in the Desnyanskyi district and at one of the addresses in the Solomianskyi district, fires have already been completely extinguished.
Scale of destruction
In addition to residential quarters, the strike also hit commercial infrastructure. Fires broke out in office and non-residential buildings, a supermarket, and a dormitory. A private house and several cars also caught fire. Rescuers continue to work at all sites to prevent re-ignition and ensure the safety of the population.
