Weight limits and dimensions: what you can take for free

According to the railway operator's reference, every passenger has the right to carry carry-on luggage weighing up to 36 kg for free. The main condition is compliance with dimensions. The sum of the length, height, and width of the luggage must not exceed 200 cm. For children under 12 years old, softer conditions apply: the weight limit is 15 kg.

If your luggage is heavier than the standard limit but weighs no more than 50 kg, it can be transported by purchasing a special transport ticket. At the same time, the dimensions of the cargo are still limited to a sum of 200 cm. Conductors have the full right to refuse passengers entry to the carriage if their luggage violates the established norms.

Bicycles: how to transport a bike on the train

Special rules apply for lovers of active recreation. A bicycle can be transported on the train, but only if two conditions are met: the bike must be disassembled and packed. Space for it is allocated in areas designated for carry-on luggage.

An important exception concerns high-speed trains. The transport of bicycles is completely prohibited in "Intercity" and "Intercity+" carriages. Passengers planning a trip with two-wheeled transport should clarify the type of train in advance.

Special routes and car transport

Separate norms apply to international flights. On the Kosice — Mukachevo route (trains No. 960, 961, 962, and 963), specific rules for free baggage transport apply, which differ from domestic flights.
