Passengers planning trips within Ukraine and abroad need to be aware of the current ticket refund rules. According to the carrier's official data, the refund procedure can be carried out both through online services and at railway station ticket offices. The amount returned to the account depends directly on the reasons for canceling the trip and the time remaining before the train's departure.

Refund Rules for Personal Reasons

If a passenger decides to cancel a trip due to personal circumstances, this can be done via the mobile application or the official «Ukrzaliznytsia» website. The key condition is adhering to the time interval: refunds are possible no later than one hour before the train's departure.

It is important to note exceptions to the rules. Refunds for suburban trains and City Express network trains are not possible. Additionally, the system does not allow canceling an already submitted refund request.

When conducting an operation within Ukraine, a commission fee and a service charge for the refund totaling 50 UAH are deducted from the passenger. For international routes, this fee is 80 UAH. The term for crediting funds to a bank card varies depending on the financial institution and may take up to 30 banking days.

Protection Against Scalpers and Special Requirements

To combat the resale of tickets for popular routes, «Ukrzaliznytsia» has introduced additional security measures. In particular, special rules apply to trains No. 067K/068L (Kyiv — Warsaw) and No. 749D (Vienna — Kyiv). One day before departure, tickets for these trains can be refunded exclusively through an account verified using the «Diia.Sign» electronic signature.

Trip Cancellation Due to Carrier's Fault

In the event of a trip cancellation due to the railway company's fault, passengers are refunded 100% of the ticket price without any commission deductions. To receive the funds, it is necessary to apply at the station ticket office or file a claim for a refund.

The procedure for submitting an application on the website requires specifying the ticket number, personal data, and the account number for payments. The request is confirmed via «Diia.Sign». The form must be signed at the post office within one hour. The consideration of the application takes up to 7 working days, and the payment of funds after approval may be made within 180 days.

Rolling Stock Issues and New Routes

Against the backdrop of current events, the company's passenger carriages continue to age, and the full-scale war exacerbates the situation. Part of the rolling stock was destroyed or suffered serious damage as a result of shelling. Hundreds of carriages require major repairs or are subject to write-off due to wear and tear.

Passengers often complain about closed windows and faulty ventilation, especially during the summer heat. The carrier explains that air conditioners in carriages have their own operational features and may not always be able to cool the cabin immediately after departure.

Despite technical difficulties, the company continues to look for opportunities to expand its network. In particular, a new route with a special schedule has been launched in Western Ukraine, connecting three regional centers — Lviv, Lutsk, and Rivne. Transport on this route will be carried out by a modern, upgraded rail bus.
