On the night of July 19, the Ukrainian economy suffered a significant blow to the alcohol production sector. A Russian missile struck the main finished goods warehouse of Global Spirits, located in the Kyiv region. The fire resulting from the attack completely destroyed the warehouse premises and inventory.
According to RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement from the holding itself, the scale of destruction is colossal. The preliminary damage estimate exceeds 100 million hryvnias. This is not just a loss of property — it is a blow to the country's budget. The company clarified that 74 million hryvnias in taxes had already been transferred to the treasury from the destroyed batch of products. This amount included excise duties, VAT, profit tax, and payroll contributions.
Logistical collapse and consequences for the market
The total loss of warehouse stocks has put uninterrupted market supply at risk. Global Spirits has temporarily suspended deliveries to clients. The company's partners have been asked to take the situation into account when planning purchases, as the most in-demand items will temporarily disappear from store shelves.
Currently, all efforts of the enterprise are focused on restoring logistics chains. Management is taking emergency measures to resume operations and minimize downtime.
Partner support and the human factor
The company's statement pays special attention to neighbors in the warehouse complex. Global Spirits expressed support for tenants Good Wine, WineTime, and the WOG chain, which also suffered losses as a result of the attack. Despite the scale of material damage, the holding emphasized the most important thing: no people were injured.
This is not the first attack on business facilities. The company reminded that during the full-scale war, they have repeatedly lost warehouses, offices, and production capacities. Nevertheless, the enterprise continues to operate, retains its team, and pays taxes, remaining one of the largest international alcohol holdings in Europe.
Global Spirits produces a wide range of products, including vodka under the well-known brands "Khortytsia", "Pervak", "Morosha", as well as Shustoff and Oreanda cognacs.
Context of strikes on infrastructure
The attack on the Global Spirits warehouse comes against the backdrop of a series of strikes on energy infrastructure. In recent days, Russian forces have struck "Naftogaz" gas production facilities in the Kharkiv region. One of the latest shelling incidents led to a fire at a production facility, which was quickly extinguished. However, some equipment was disabled, forcing a reduction in gas production volumes.
