Valentina Savitska, the wife of Igor Soloviy, the head of the Strategic Communications Center 'Spravdi', was killed on July 24 as a result of a Russian missile strike on the Kyiv region. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a post by Igor Soloviy on Facebook.
The deceased and the family's reaction
Valentina Savitska (maiden name Linyevych) was not only the wife of a prominent Ukrainian expert but also the head of the Center for International Cooperation and Strategic Communications of the State Guard Service of Ukraine. In his statement, Igor Soloviy expressed deep grief over the loss:
"My family is suffering a terrible tragedy: the scoundrels killed my beloved girl and caring wife, loving mother and daughter, Valentina Savitska (Linyevych). I will write about the place and time of the farewell later. Remember my beloved, she was an incredible, the best person in the world..."
Details of the attack and consequences
The missile strike hit the territory of a private range in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region, where representatives of the defense industry were present. According to the latest data, 10 people were killed and more than 100 were injured as a result of the attack. Civilian infrastructure, buildings, and transport were damaged.
On July 25, a day of mourning was declared in the Kyiv region for the victims of the Russian shelling. Law enforcement agencies have initiated a criminal case under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for war crimes committed by the Russian Federation.
Additional investigations
Parallel to the investigation of the war crime, law enforcement officers have also initiated an inspection regarding possible negligence in the organization and conduct of the event where representatives of the defense industry gathered. This direction of the investigation is aimed at identifying possible violations in security issues and coordination of actions during the event.
The incident became another tragic episode in the series of Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, highlighting the scale of human losses and destruction that the war brings to the civilian population and key specialists of the country.
