When you want something sweet but have neither the time nor the desire to turn on the oven and endure lengthy preparations, a quick dessert made in the microwave in just a few minutes comes to the rescue. We are talking about a chocolate cake that contains neither added sugar nor traditional baking: the base consists of just three simple components, while freshness and juiciness are provided by fresh or frozen berries. A step-by-step recipe is provided by Styler project editor Yulia Liushneva.

The Essence of the Recipe and Why It Is Fast

The main idea of the dessert is to get a dense chocolate base without sugar and without an oven. Ripe banana provides sweetness and texture, an egg plays the binding role, and cocoa gives the chocolate taste and color. Thanks to the microwave, the mass "sets" in literally a couple of minutes, making the recipe convenient for a spontaneous snack or a light dessert during the day.

Preparing the Base

First, the banana is peeled and thoroughly mashed with a fork until pureed; it is important to choose a ripe fruit with soft pulp so that the mass turns out homogeneous and sweet without added sugar. One egg and cocoa are added to the banana puree, after which everything is mixed well until the mixture is smooth and lump-free. The finished mass is transferred to a low microwave-safe container, leaving a little free space to the edge so that the dough does not "run away" when heated.

Cooking in the Microwave

The time guideline is the medium power of the microwave oven, approximately 600 W, although the exact duration depends on the power of the device, the size of the dishes, and the thickness of the dough. Doneness can be checked after just 1.5–2 minutes: the base should be well set, with no liquid mass inside. If the center remains raw, cooking continues in short intervals of 15–20 seconds, checking the result each time. The recipe author used a rectangular plastic container with a volume of 0.5 liters without a lid.

Cooling and Assembling the Cake

The finished base is carefully removed from the container and allowed to cool slightly. Then it is cut in half, smeared with yogurt, and assembled into a cake, garnished with cherries on top. In the author's version, frozen berries were used, which, according to the author, suited the dessert particularly well. This serving method keeps the dessert light and adds no sugar to it.

Serving Options and Sugar Caveat

The dessert can be supplemented to taste, but it is important to consider the composition: if condensed milk or chocolate is used instead of yogurt, added sugar will appear in the finished cake, and the original "sugar-free" concept of the recipe will change. Thus, the classic version with yogurt and cherries remains the one most consistent with the stated idea of sweets without added sugar.
