On the afternoon of August 22, 2026, a combined strike was carried out against civilian infrastructure in Odesa Oblast, resulting in damage to residential buildings and an agro-industrial enterprise, with casualties confirmed. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing an official statement by Oleg Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, in his Telegram channel. According to him, three people were injured in the enemy attack, including a minor, which makes the incident particularly grave in terms of humanitarian consequences.
Casualties: a minor among them
According to the published statement, a woman and a 16-year-old girl were injured as a result of the shelling, along with one more person who was on the territory of an agro-industrial enterprise. Thus, the total number of injured confirmed by regional authorities is three. The statement emphasizes that all injured persons are receiving the necessary medical assistance, and all relevant services are working at the impact sites.
Damage to residential buildings and the agro-industrial sector
As a result of the attack, a private house and a dacha (country house) were damaged, indicating that residential structures in a suburban or rural area were hit. In addition, an agro-industrial enterprise was struck: according to Oleg Kiper, three grain silos were damaged. This causes direct harm not only to the farm but also to local food logistics, as the grain stored in the silos may be lost or spoiled.
Night attacks: the railway and DTEK energy facilities
The daytime strike was a continuation of a series of attacks that began in the night leading into August 22. According to available data, as a result of the night shelling, the Odesa railway was damaged, and the station building at Razdelnaya station was hit. In parallel, the Russians caused significant damage to DTEK company's energy facilities in the region. The company itself stated that restoring the damaged infrastructure will take time, which may lead to prolonged restrictions in energy supply to part of the region.
Response of services and current situation
Emergency and specialized services are working at all confirmed impact sites: inspections of damaged buildings are being conducted, assistance is being provided to the injured, and the scale of the damage is being assessed. Regional authorities are documenting both the consequences of the daytime combined strike and the accumulated damage from the night attacks on transport and energy facilities. The situation remains tense, and the restoration of the damaged infrastructure, according to estimates by specialized bodies, will take more than one day.
