Enterprises of DTEK Group, owned by Rinat Akhmetov, paid 29.6 billion UAH in taxes to budgets of all levels during the first six months of 2026. According to the company, this figure is almost 22% higher than in the same period last year, indicating the recovery and growth of the energy holding's tax base amidst ongoing war challenges.
Payment Structure: State and Local Budgets
Of the total 29.6 billion UAH, the lion's share—27.2 billion UAH—was directed to the state budget of Ukraine. An additional 2.4 billion UAH went to local community budgets in the regions where the company operates. Thus, more than 90% of the Group's tax revenues are concentrated at the state level, while the remainder forms the resource base for local communities where the holding's enterprises are located.
Management Position: Contribution to Defense and Resilience
DTEK emphasized that despite the war and systematic attacks on energy infrastructure, the Group's enterprises continue to supply the country with energy, invest in restoring damaged capacities, and fulfill obligations to the state. "Every hryvnia of taxes paid is a contribution to financing Ukraine's defense, supporting communities, hospitals, schools, and critical infrastructure," noted DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko. He added that responsible business is today one of the foundations of Ukraine's economic resilience.
Cumulative Contribution Since the Start of the Full-Scale Invasion
The company also provided a cumulative figure: since the start of the full-scale invasion, DTEK Group enterprises have paid 209.9 billion UAH in taxes. DTEK emphasizes that the holding remains one of the largest taxpayers in the country. Previously, the energy company was named the leader in investments in the Ukrainian economy during the full-scale war, which, according to management, confirms its role in maintaining the state's industrial and energy potential.
Contradictory Data
When comparing publications from different outlets, a discrepancy in absolute figures is noted, which is explained by differences in the scope of calculation rather than an error. In materials regarding the DTEK Group as a whole for the first half of 2026, the sum of 29.6 billion UAH is cited. At the same time, the separate enterprise "DTEK Energy" indicated a tax volume of 10.6 billion UAH for the same period, while for the first quarter of 2026, the DTEK Group reported paying 14 billion UAH. These figures do not contradict each other: the 14 billion UAH for Q1 are part of the semi-annual total of 29.6 billion UAH, and the 10.6 billion UAH refer to the specific enterprise "DTEK Energy" within the broader Group. It is important for the reader to note that only comparable scopes should be compared—the entire Group versus a single enterprise.
Thus, DTEK's semi-annual tax reporting demonstrates a 22% year-on-year growth in revenues and confirms the holding's status as one of the key taxpayers and investors in Ukraine's energy sector under war conditions.
