On the evening of October 12, 2026, Russian forces launched another massive aerial attack on the Ukrainian capital. As a result of a direct hit by an attack jet drone, a 25-story residential building located in the densely populated Darnytskyi district of Kyiv suffered severe damage. State Emergency Service units, medics, and local authorities promptly arrived at the scene to eliminate the consequences and assist the victims.
Scale of destruction and casualties
According to official information provided by Oleksandr Kovtunov, the head of the Darnytskyi District State Administration, at least two people were killed as a result of the terrorist strike. Another eight local residents sustained injuries of varying severity and were promptly hospitalized. In addition, a powerful blast wave and the ensuing fire caused colossal damage to the surrounding infrastructure: several neighboring apartment buildings were damaged, and nine cars burned down in the courtyard.
City services immediately began eliminating the consequences of the emergency. Construction film is being distributed on the first floor of the building at 23-B Dniprovska Embankment so that residents can temporarily cover windows blown out by the blast wave before dark. Specialized mobile assistance headquarters will begin operating at the site in the morning.
Assistance to victims and official response
For citizens whose property was damaged as a result of the night attack, an operational headquarters will start working tomorrow morning at 18-B Dniprovska Embankment. There, affected Kyiv residents will be able to receive comprehensive consultations on applying for state financial assistance and submit applications through the "eVidnovlennia" housing restoration program.
Military experts note that the Russian Federation continues its regular aerial terror against peaceful Ukrainian cities, using modernized jet drones. Despite the effective work of Ukraine's air defense forces, which eliminate the vast majority of air targets, debris and individual drones that manage to break through continue to pose a lethal threat to the civilian population of the capital.
