At the MSPO-2026 international defense exhibition in Poland, Destinus, a European aerospace systems developer with Ukrainian roots, presented new details about the Ruta Block 3 long-range cruise missile. The company simultaneously announced that the previous-generation systems — Ruta Block 2 and the Kryla distributed strike system — are in the final stage of testing and ready to transition to serial production. Mock-ups of the weapons were displayed at the Destinus stand, making the exhibition one of the key venues for announcements in the cruise missile segment.

Flagship Specifications: Ruta Block 3

According to the company, the new cruise missile has an overall fuselage length of about seven meters and is capable of delivering a 250-kilogram warhead over a distance of more than 2,000 kilometers. The subsonic cruise speed ranges from 700 to 900 km/h, and the powerplant consists of in-house turbojet engines — the T200, T450, or T220. The Ruta Block 3 is launched from a standard 40-foot ISO container, which simplifies logistics and the concealment of the launch position. The developer positions the system as a weapon filling the niche of 2,000 km+ range in the arsenal of European munitions while not falling under the US ITAR export restrictions. A company representative stated that the first flight tests of the third generation are planned for 2027.

Kryla: Massed Air Defense Penetration

In parallel, the company described the Kryla system — a more compact munition with a T70 turbojet engine that delivers a 50 kg warhead over a distance of more than 800 km at a speed of 700–800 km/h. Kryla is designed to saturate and penetrate the enemy's dense air defense system through massed strikes. Unlike the Ruta Block 3, it can be launched from a smaller 20-foot container using a solid-fuel booster, or from transport aircraft on 463L-standard pallets. A distinguishing feature of the system is its support for a Mesh network for data exchange between munitions directly in the air: this allows coordinating attack vectors and synchronizing the time of target engagement by different vehicles, using UAVs as relays.

Navigation, Guidance, and Warheads

According to the developer, both weapon families use a low-altitude flight profile with terrain following and a unified navigation complex combining an inertial system, satellite navigation, and a visual system for maintaining orientation under GPS signal jamming. On the terminal segment, the target is identified by an electro-optical and infrared guidance head with artificial intelligence algorithms. Ruta and Kryla can be fitted with penetrating, fragmentation-blast, or blast warheads depending on the type and hardness of the target. The preliminary version of the Ruta Block 2 complex carries a similar 250 kg payload but has a shorter range and flies at 600–700 km/h thanks to a single T150 engine.

Production and Export Potential

"We are actively working on the Ruta Block 3 system and plan to begin the first flight tests of the third generation as early as 2027. Destinus intends to establish fully independent production of these systems on European territory to meet the needs of partner countries," a company representative stated at the exhibition. Thus, the company is betting on a sovereign European production chain independent of US export restrictions, which potentially expands the circle of possible buyers among partner countries.

Contradictory Data

When comparing publications from different outlets, discrepancies in the figures are noted. In particular, the headline of an nv.ua article lists the range of the Ruta Block 2 missile as "over 450 km," whereas in the description presented at the Destinus stand and in a number of other sources, the range of the second version is assessed at above 700 km. Also, regarding the developer's jurisdiction, sources give different formulations: interfax.com.ua characterizes Destinus as a Dutch company, while in the main coverage of the event it appears as a "European developer with Ukrainian roots." Finally, a number of Ukrainian media outlets (nv.ua) describe the company's founder as a Russian citizen who left the RF, which is editorial framing and is not confirmed in the exhibition's technical materials. These inconsistencies do not affect the fact of the presentation at MSPO-2026, but they require caution when citing specific specifications.

Context: MSPO-2026 and Other Announcements

The MSPO-2026 exhibition in Poland became a venue for a number of announcements in the cruise and ballistic missile segment. Thus, "Ukroboronprom" at MSPO for the first time demonstrated a launch installation for the "Korall" surface-to-air missile. Earlier, in August, the specifications of the "Palianytsia" and "Peklo" drone missiles were reported, which were used for the first time in a coordinated strike on the naval base in Novorossiysk. Recall that as early as April 2026, the company Destinus announced the completion of flight tests of the Ruta Block 2 missile, and the first version of the missile is already being used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
