In the framework of the 3rd round of the Ukrainian Premier League 2026/27 season, Kyiv's Dynamo achieved a resilient and extremely important victory over Kovalivka's Kolos. The match, held on the home turf of the Kyivians, turned into a real drama where the capital club managed to redeem itself before the fans after an unsuccessful start in European competitions. The final whistle recorded a score of 2:1 in favor of the hosts, however, the path to this result was strewn with errors and nervous moments.
Goalkeeper errors and a quick response from the opponent
The "White-Blues" started the match with a clear intention to take the initiative. Already in the 20th minute, the efforts of striker Matvey Ponomarenko were crowned with success: he masterfully finished a cross with a precise header, sending the ball into the far corner of Ivan Pakholyuk's goal. However, the joy of the goal lasted only a minute. In a counter-attack by Kolos, Alexander Demchenko struck a powerful shot from long range, and the young Dynamo goalkeeper Vyacheslav Surkis made a critical error, letting the ball slip into the near corner. This episode became a turning point psychologically for the Kyiv team.
The decisive moment from Brazhko
The first half ended in a draw, despite a missed chance by Ponomarenko in a "one-on-one" situation. The second half began with fierce fighting, where the fate of the match was decided by the individual skill of midfielder Vladimir Brazhko. In the 73rd minute, he received a pass on the edge of the penalty area and with a filigree shot sent the ball precisely into the corner of the opponent's goal. This goal proved to be the winner, but immediately after it, Brazhko earned a second yellow card for breaking up a dangerous counter-attack, leaving the team with a man down.
Final sprint and match outcome
Dynamo spent the last minutes of the game with ten men, building a solid defense. Despite the pressure from Kolos, the Kyivians managed to hold their advantage and bring the match to a victory. This result became the team's first step towards regaining confidence after elimination by Karabakh. In other matches of the round, Shakhtar struggled to victory over Kharkiv, while LNZ achieved their first victory of the season by beating Chornomorets.
