A significant shift has occurred in the organization of military production in Kyiv: for the first time, corps commanders have met directly with arms manufacturers and government representatives. The initiator of the meeting was Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who convened a special session of the General Staff to discuss acute issues regarding supply and the quality of ammunition.

A Meeting Without Intermediaries

According to the head of state, the format of the meeting was fundamentally new. For the first time, commanders of corps, representatives of the defense industry, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Finance, and relevant special services gathered in one hall. This allowed for the elimination of bureaucratic delays and the opportunity to hear the real needs of the frontline firsthand.

Participants in the meeting included the Commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commanders of the 10th, 11th, and 19th Army Corps, as well as representatives of the "Kharta" and "Azov" units.

Key Issues: From Delays to Defects

The main focus of the discussion shifted to practical issues of survival and army efficiency. Participants discussed critical supply delays, procurement difficulties, and the urgent need to finance contracts.

Special attention was paid to the shortage of specific types of weaponry needed on the hottest fronts:

  • Drones of various types;
  • Ground robotic complexes;
  • Long-range artillery ammunition.

A separate agenda item was the detection of defects in military products. Zelenskyy firmly stated his position: manufacturers must respond promptly to feedback coming from the front and immediately eliminate equipment deficiencies.

A New Format of Interaction

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to transition to a permanent dialogue format between commanders, factories, and the government. Coordination of this work will be undertaken by the Ministry of Defense and the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). The President announced that he would hold similar meetings with other corps commanders the very next day to gather comprehensive feedback from the entire Defense Forces system.

The results of these discussions will form the basis for adjusting defense strategy. Priority tasks for production and delivery will be determined, and new requests for Ukrainian diplomacy will be formulated, particularly in the field of air defense.

Preparing for Autumn

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the strategic importance of current decisions. According to him, Ukraine must enter August at maximum strength. The main goal is to be ready for various scenarios of events and the behavior of the Russian army during the autumn period.

This session became part of a series of consultations that the President has been holding in recent days with the military command. Previously, he had already met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, as well as Deputy Chief of the General Staff Volodymyr Horbatiuk and Commander of the Joint Forces Mykhailo Drapatyi to discuss the situation on difficult sections of the front.
