Ukraine is actively expanding its international partnership in the field of defense production. As of now, Kyiv has already concluded nine agreements in the Drone Deals format. Approximately 15 international treaties are currently in the active negotiation phase, indicating high demand for Ukrainian technologies and production capacities.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a meeting of ambassadors in Kyiv. The head of state emphasized that this format of cooperation ensures not just one-time aid, but long-term sustainability.
Economic foundation for the defense industry
The key advantage of the initiative for Kyiv is financial stability. As Zelenskyy noted, thanks to the Drone Deals format, Ukraine receives long-term annual funding for defense production. This creates a sustainable financial basis for the entire industry, allowing for development planning for years to come.
Ukraine's partners, in turn, gain access to modern military equipment and technologies. This is a mutually beneficial model where the exchange of experience and resources strengthens the security of all parties to the agreement.
New participants and global prospects
The list of countries joining the initiative includes the Netherlands and Denmark, which became the eighth and ninth participants, respectively. The signed documents will allow countries to jointly produce drones and develop innovative technologies in this field.
Special attention is paid to cooperation with the USA. Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Kyiv and Washington are on the final stretch before signing the agreement. The document provides not only for joint production but also for the construction of a large plant on the territory of the United States.
Interest in Ukrainian experience is also growing in Europe. In Germany, specifically in the CSU party, it was proposed to conclude a bilateral agreement on the exchange of defense technologies. Member of the Bundestag Alexander Hoffmann stated that Berlin needs to use Ukraine's developments in the field of drones, anti-drone systems, and missile complexes to strengthen its own defense capabilities.
This format, originally laid down as the basis for partnership with the EU, demonstrates the potential for scaling to other types of weapons, turning into a global standard for defense cooperation.
