New safety measures for gas stations are coming into force in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The decision was made against the backdrop of increasing attacks by Russian drones on the region's civilian infrastructure. The main goal of the changes is to minimize damage and protect human lives in the event of repeated strikes.
Reducing fuel reserves
According to the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Alexander Ganza, gas station operators in the region will significantly reduce the volume of fuel in underground tanks. This measure is designed to reduce the scale of possible consequences — be it fires or explosions — in the event that enemy shells or drones hit the fuel complexes.
Despite the reduction in stockpiles, authorities assure that the situation with fuel supply for the population remains stable. The region has worked out an action plan in case of a shortage: if necessary, fuel will be delivered promptly by tankers or through the deployment of mobile gas stations.
New safety rules and mobile shelters
Mobile shelters will begin to be installed on the territory of gas stations. This should ensure the protection of staff and visitors in the event of a sudden attack, if it is not possible to leave the zone of impact.
In addition, a strict code of conduct is introduced in the event of an air raid siren. All visitors and employees of gas stations must immediately leave the premises. Special police units will monitor compliance with this rule.
Control of vehicle congestion
Law enforcement agencies will take on the function of regulating traffic flow. The police will patrol the territory of fuel complexes, instruct drivers and prevent the formation of large queues and vehicle congestion. This is necessary to minimize the number of casualties in the event of an attack.

The decision to tighten security measures was not made without cause. Recently, Russian occupiers launched a drone attack on facilities in the Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result of the attack, five gas stations were damaged, one woman was killed, and three others were injured.
The situation on the front remains tense. Ukrainian intelligence (GUR) reports that Russian units have been ordered to intensify drone attacks on civilian infrastructure and transport hubs in frontline areas and border regions. Under these conditions, the protection of critical facilities, such as gas stations, becomes a priority task for regional authorities.
