The National Bank of Ukraine has recorded a resumption in the growth of major foreign currency exchange rates. On Tuesday, July 28, the official exchange rate of the US dollar was set at 44.85 hryvnias, which is 5 kopecks higher than the previous day's figure. The euro also showed positive dynamics, rising by 11 kopecks to reach 51.07 hryvnias.
Detailed Breakdown of Exchange Rate Changes
Compared to Monday, July 27, when the American currency was trading at 44.80 hryvnias, it began to grow steadily. The European currency, whose rate at the beginning of the week was 50.96 hryvnias, also returned to an upward trend. These changes signal that summer stability may be giving way to a new phase of volatility.
Expert Opinion: Summer Lull and Interventions
Despite the rise, experts do not predict sharp spikes in the near future. Taras Lesovoy, Head of the Treasury Department at Globus Bank, notes that a period of relative summer lull persists in the market. This is due to the seasonal decline in business activity, which naturally curbs speculative demand for foreign currency.
According to the banker's assessment, the gap between the cash currency rate and the interbank market is gradually narrowing during this period. The general market benchmark for the end of July remains around the 45 hryvnia mark per dollar, although experts expect this process to occur smoothly.
It is important to note that the National Bank of Ukraine is actively monitoring the situation. The regulator smooths out temporary imbalances through currency interventions, which helps keep exchange rate dynamics within expected limits and prevents sharp fluctuations.
