In the Donetsk region, a decision has been made to expand the zone of mandatory evacuation of families with children to all settlements of the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk communities. This measure was introduced due to regular shelling by Russian troops, who daily strike residential neighborhoods, civilian transport, and infrastructure facilities. This was announced by the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Vadym Filashkin.
Reasons for the Deteriorating Security Situation in the Region
According to the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Vadym Filashkin, the operational situation in the region continues to deteriorate rapidly. Russian units daily attack cities and towns in the region, putting civilians in mortal danger. Densely populated areas where families with children remain are coming under fire, making living there critically dangerous. Local authorities emphasize that staying in these settlements is no longer possible due to high risks to the lives and health of minors.
Earlier, in September and October of this year, the authorities had already carried out a phased expansion of evacuation measures in certain territories of the Kramatorsk and Sloviansk communities, as well as in the Sviatohirsk community. However, ongoing attacks forced the regional leadership to take radical measures and extend the forced evacuation to the entire territory of the communities. Representatives of the regional administration urge parents not to wait for hostilities to approach their homes directly and to immediately leave the danger zone.
Organization of Evacuation Measures and Assistance to Evacuees
Specialized groups of the National Police, employees of the State Emergency Service, as well as representatives of local military administrations and children's affairs services are involved in carrying out evacuation measures. Specialists accompany families at all stages of departure, ensuring people's safety from the moment of boarding transport to arrival at destinations.
Upon arrival at transit centers, evacuated citizens receive comprehensive support, including psychological and humanitarian assistance. Families are assisted with further processing and relocation to safer regions of Ukraine, where they are provided with temporary housing and social benefits. The primary goal of the authorities remains the preservation of the lives and health of the younger generation.
Significance and Consequences of the Evacuation Expansion
Large-scale evacuation from Kramatorsk and Sloviansk demonstrates the state's desire to minimize casualties among the civilian population amid ongoing hostilities. Timely removal of children from the zone of constant shelling reduces humanitarian risks and allows redistributing the resources of emergency services to work in rear logistics hubs. It is expected that tightening control and expanding the lists of evacuated territories will help save the lives of hundreds of families who remained in the frontline zone.
