Forced evacuation of families with children expanded in two more communities of Donetsk region

In the Donetsk region, regional authorities have decided to expand security measures amid ongoing hostilities. The Coordination Headquarters for evacuation measures and effective response to mass displacement of the population in the Donetsk region held a regular meeting, approving a decision to announce a forced evacuation of families with children.

New communities in the evacuation zone

The new decree applies to settlements within the Sviatohirsk and Sloviansk communities. The constant threat to the lives and health of minors, as well as the intensification of artillery shelling and airstrikes by Russian troops, force the regional military administration to take strict but necessary preventive measures to save the civilian population.

Danger to humanitarian corridors

According to representatives of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, the decision to strengthen evacuation measures is also due to the fact that the invaders are purposefully attacking gathering places and movement routes of civilians trying to leave the danger zone. To minimize risks, the Coordination Headquarters meeting approved the organization of new logistics points for the safe reception and dispatch of citizens.

Contradictory data

While official reports from the Donetsk Regional State Administration indicate targeted expansion of measures in the Sviatohirsk and Sloviansk communities, adjacent reports from regional media and summaries from other eastern and southern regions of Ukraine feature general figures covering dozens of settlements (up to 58 points according to separate reports of adjacent agencies). In addition, data from monitoring missions regarding the exact number of children subject to immediate removal to safe regions of the country differ due to the dynamically changing operational situation.

Wider evacuation across regions

It is worth noting that similar measures were previously implemented in other frontline regions of Ukraine. In early August, the regional administration stepped up mandatory evacuation from Kramatorsk, Bilenke, and Krasnotorka. In late July, the authorities of neighboring Kharkiv region decided to evacuate families with children from the Staryi Saltiv community, and in the Dnipropetrovsk region, mandatory removal of minors affected hundreds of residents from dozens of villages.
