Doroshchuk started the competition confidently and became the only competitor to clear the first three heights — 2.15, 2.20, and 2.24 meters — on his first attempt. Thanks to his flawless start, the Ukrainian topped the interim standings. At the 2.28 m height, Doroshchuk made his first mistake and failed to clear the bar in three attempts, ending his competition with a result of 2.24 m.
