On the night of November 7, 2026, drones struck the energy infrastructure of the occupied Luhansk region. According to data provided by the occupation authorities of the so-called "LNR" and the Russian media outlet ASTRA, more than 300,000 subscribers were left without electricity as a result of the attack. The southern and central parts of the region were de-energized, where, according to the occupiers' statements, a special headquarters is operating to eliminate the consequences.

Scale of the Power Outage

As RBC-Ukraine reports, citing the occupation "government" of the "LNR" and ASTRA, drone strikes on energy facilities led to a massive blackout in the southern and central parts of the occupied region. According to these data, the number of subscribers left without electricity exceeded 300,000. The occupation authorities claim there were no casualties resulting from the attack, and a specially established headquarters is coordinating the infrastructure restoration work.

Contlicting Statements on Casualties

At the same time, earlier that same day, November 7, the Russia-appointed "head" of occupied Luhansk region, Leonid Pasechnik, reported two wounded. According to him, a 41-year-old man was injured in Lysychansk, and a 42-year-old man was wounded in the Kreminna district after a drone struck a courtyard. Thus, the occupation side's statements feature contradictory data regarding the number of casualties: from "no casualties" to two wounded.

Series of Strikes on Regional Infrastructure

The occupied Luhansk region regularly comes under drone attacks. On the night of October 23, drones massively attacked occupied Luhansk: after explosions, communications were cut in part of the city and power outages began, pointing to a likely target — communication facilities. Two days earlier, on October 21, drones struck the building of the "Lugacom" operator and the Telecommunication Services Center in Luhansk. And on October 20, the "Ugletelecom" data center in occupied Donetsk came under attack.

Context and Impossibility of Independent Verification

All of the listed statements by the occupation authorities cannot be independently verified. Against the backdrop of ongoing strikes on rear infrastructure, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that Russia is building another launch site for strike drones — a "drone port" near the "Millerovo" military airfield in the Rostov region, bordering the occupied Luhansk region. According to preliminary estimates by the GUR, upon completion of construction, the site will be able to support up to 100 jet drone launches per day, which corresponds to the growing intensity of attacks on energy and communication facilities in the occupied territories.
