A major political case is unfolding in Poland, which could significantly influence the perception of security in the region. The country's prosecution has charged an 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen. The young man is suspected of sabotage activities conducted on behalf of Russian intelligence. According to the investigation, the teenager did not merely commit offenses but was preparing a large-scale attack using an unmanned aerial vehicle.

Recruitment Scheme and Motivation

According to Polish law enforcement data, the accused acted under the direction of Russian special services. Investigators claim that the recruitment mechanism was established through the internet. The young man was paid in cryptocurrency for completing assigned tasks, which allowed for transaction anonymity and complicated the tracking of financial flows.

Scale of Illegal Activities

The Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW) presented shocking statistics regarding the suspect's activities. Between November 2024 and August 2025, the young man committed 47 illegal acts. Among the most resonant charges is the desecration of memorials dedicated to Polish victims of World War II events.

In the opinion of the investigation, these actions were aimed at artificially intensifying tensions between Poland and Ukraine, stoking historical grievances and creating grounds for conflict.

Plan for an Attack on the Military Parade

The central episode of the investigation was the preparation of a sabotage act using a drone. According to the prosecution, the suspect planned to launch a drone over the car of the President of Poland. The target of the attack was to be a military parade scheduled for August 15, 2025, in Warsaw.

Experts note that the arrest occurred before the event took place. Thanks to the operational work of law enforcement agencies, the plan was not realized, and the threat to the life of the country's highest-ranking official was prevented.

Context of Hybrid Warfare

The Polish Internal Security Agency believes that this case reveals part of the overall scheme of Russian special services' operations. Official Warsaw states that Moscow uses such operations to destabilize relations between the two neighboring states, seeking to weaken their alliance.

This is not the first time Poland has accused Russia of conducting hybrid operations. At the end of June, Polish special services already reported the exposure of an influence campaign funded by Russia. Its goal, as claimed at the time, was to provoke protest sentiments among Ukrainian refugees and increase social tension in Polish society.

Situation on NATO Borders

The investigation in Poland is taking place against the backdrop of an escalation in the airspace situation. It recently became known that within a single day, Russian aviation rose into the sky over the Baltic Sea near the borders of NATO countries three times. Polish fighters were promptly deployed to intercept the aircraft, escorting them until the flight ended in international airspace.
