DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko stated at the Kyiv International Economic Forum that the company will continue to invest in the development of Ukraine's energy sector despite the full-scale war, regular Russian attacks, and massive destruction of energy infrastructure. According to him, continuing investment activity is a matter of principle for DTEK owner Rinat Akhmetov. "We are glad that we now see powerful investments in our sector. This is a signal to our people, to those who work in DTEK, to the citizens of Ukraine, and to the whole world that this is our country. And despite all the uncertainty, all the challenges, and the destruction of our capacities, we will continue to invest. We want to remain leaders in investment," Timchenko emphasized.

International trust as the basis of investment attractiveness

The head of DTEK drew attention to the fact that cooperation with international financial institutions and private investors plays an important role in attracting capital to Ukraine. In his assessment, it is the trust of foreign partners that allows Ukrainian companies to implement large-scale projects even under conditions of armed conflict. As a concrete example, Timchenko cited the decision of the American financial institution DFC (Development Finance Corporation) to co-invest with a Ukrainian company. He stressed that this step has become an important signal for the entire Ukrainian business community and indicates that domestic enterprises remain financially viable and can count on the support of international partners.

Wind generation and replacement of coal energy

Timchenko also reported that DTEK continues working on the implementation of new energy projects. In particular, this concerns the development of wind generation and the introduction of modern electricity production technologies, which in the future will make it possible to replace coal generation. This course toward the diversification of generation sources and the transition to cleaner technologies, as the company head noted, complies with global decarbonization trends and increases the resilience of the energy system against external threats. The development of wind energy combined with the modernization of existing capacities is viewed by DTEK as a key element of the long-term strategy for developing Ukraine's energy sector.

Energy as the foundation of economic growth

Timchenko emphasized that the development of energy is one of the key prerequisites for Ukraine's economic growth. At the same time, he noted that the implementation of large-scale investment projects requires the active participation of the private sector and the building of long-term partnerships with international financial institutions. Thus, DTEK positions itself not only as an operator of energy assets, but also as a systemic player capable of attracting international capital amid geopolitical instability and ensuring the country's energy security in the long term.
