The Ukrainian energy market regulator has decided to significantly revise the cost of electricity transmission services. As of August 1, 2026, the tariff for transporting electricity through the transmission networks of Ukrenergo will increase by 25%.
New rates for energy companies and industry
According to the decision of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities (NKREKU), the new rate will be 928.45 UAH per one megawatt-hour (excluding VAT). This change will directly affect energy suppliers and large industrial consumers who pay for resource transmission services via high-voltage lines.
At the same time, the regulator has taken into account the specifics of certain economic sectors. A special preferential tariff has been provided for enterprises of "green" electrometallurgy. The transmission cost for them will be set at 563.26 UAH per megawatt-hour, which is significantly lower than the standard rate.
Tariff stability for households
It is important to note that the increase in the transmission tariff will not lead to an increase in electricity costs for ordinary citizens. NKREKU has officially clarified that the change concerns exclusively the wholesale market and electricity logistics. For household consumers, the current rate remains unchanged — 4.32 UAH per kilowatt-hour.
Reasons for the price review
The regulator justifies the need for tariff indexation with a number of key factors. The revision of electricity transmission service costs is dictated by the need to maintain the operability of critical infrastructure and ensure the reliability of the power system under current challenges.
