The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center reports that cold weather with night frosts will persist in most regions of the country at the beginning of October 2026. According to Natalia Ptukha, Head of the Media Relations Department at UkrHMC, daytime hours will feature comfortable warmth and sunny intervals against the backdrop of an anticyclone, while nights will bring sub-zero temperatures to the soil surface.
Weekend Weather and Initial Frosts
In the coming days, temperature indicators will range from +14°C to +21°C during the day. Meanwhile, nighttime temperatures in most regions will drop to 0°C to -3°C on the soil surface. Forecasters also warn that on the weekend of October 3–4, 2026, localized frosts in the air are possible at night in parts of the Pre-Carpathians.
Shift in Air Flows and Warming
At the beginning of next week, forecasters predict a change in the synoptic situation. Air flows are expected to shift to the southwest, leading to an increase in cloud cover. Clouds will act as a natural blanket, preventing the surface layer of air from cooling down rapidly at night.
Forecast for the Night of October 4–5
Preliminary calculations by UkrHMC specialists show that the cessation of frosts can be expected as early as the night of October 4–5, 2026. Nighttime air temperatures will range from +3°C to +8°C, helping to avoid dangerous drops to negative values, provided the cloud cover and wind direction match the forecast.
Variability Factors and Forecast Accuracy
Experts remind that this forecast is preliminary and requires ongoing refinement. The speed and nature of atmospheric processes may adjust the timing of the end of the frosts. Specialists continue to monitor weather developments and will publish updated data as new information becomes available.
