On July 13, a key meeting of the 'Coalition of the Willing' — an international group established to coordinate support for Ukraine — will take place in Paris. The central item on the agenda is a critically important issue: how to strengthen Ukraine's air defense amid the growing threat from Russia.
Rising Threat and Acute Shortage
The decision to convene the meeting was driven by a sharp intensification of Russian ballistic missile attacks. According to insiders, Kyiv's allies recognize that Ukraine is currently facing an acute shortage of ammunition for air defense systems. It is this lack of munitions that makes intercepting modern Russian missiles an increasingly difficult task, requiring immediate action from Western partners.
During the negotiations, more than 25 world leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are expected to take on new commitments. The discussion will focus not only on words of support but on concrete steps to replenish the shortage of weaponry.
New Formats of Aid and Pressure on Russia
In addition to direct military aid, summit participants plan to discuss mechanisms for additional pressure on Russia. French leader Emmanuel Macron is expected to make important statements. Specifically, he may announce the launch of new bilateral projects for the production of weapons for Ukraine, as well as joint military exercises.
Furthermore, funding issues are on the agenda. It was previously reported that Ukraine plans to purchase weapons from the United Kingdom using credit funds from the European Union. Additionally, several allies have proposed innovative financing schemes for defense aimed at ensuring long-term support for the Kyiv side.
The meeting in Paris is intended to become a turning point in solving the problem of protecting the Ukrainian sky, uniting the efforts of leaders to find working solutions amidst the escalation of the conflict.
