The Basketball Federation of Ukraine (FBU) has officially announced who will broadcast the national championship games in the 2026/2027 season. According to the announcement, men's Super League games will be available to viewers on the "Suspilne Sport" TV channel, as well as on the "Kyivstar TV" online platform. Thus, fans will have several channels to access games of the elite division of Ukrainian basketball, which should help boost interest in the league ahead of the new season.
Distribution of Games Across Platforms
The FBU has established a clear scheme for distributing broadcasts by round. Half of the men's Super League games in each round will be shown exclusively on the "Kyivstar TV" platform. At the same time, all matches on this platform will be available to viewers for free, making viewing accessible to a wide audience. The remaining games of the round can be watched on the official YouTube channel of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine. The "Suspilne Sport" TV channel will take on the broadcast of one match per round, thereby ensuring the presence of the national championship on state television.
Updated Regular Season and Playoff Format
The 2026/2027 season will be held in a fundamentally updated format. The regular championship will consist of three rounds, after which the best teams will continue the fight in the playoffs. Significant changes have also been made to the playoff stage: quarterfinal series will now be played to two wins by one of the teams (i.e., a maximum of three games), while the semifinals, final, and bronze series will be played to three wins (a maximum of five games). This format should make the playoffs more dynamic and unpredictable in the early stages, while still preserving competitiveness in the decisive series.
Participant Roster: 10 Teams in the Elite Division
Ten teams will take part in the new Super League season. The basketball club "Khmelnytskyi" has joined the elite division, having become the winner of the Higher League and earned the right to promotion. A reminder of last season's results: the champion of the 2025/2026 Super League was "Dnipro," the silver medals were won by "Kyiv-Basket," and the bronze medalist was BC "Rovno." It was "Dnipro" and "Kyiv-Basket" who met in the final of the previous season, which underscores the high level of competition in the league.
Transfers: Lev Koshvatskyi Leaves Abroad
In addition to organizational news, a transfer rumor has also made waves ahead of the new season. The leader of the "Cherkasy Monkeys," Lev Koshvatskyi, has found himself a new club and will continue his career abroad. The departure of one of the league's key players could noticeably affect the balance of power in the Super League and become a factor that opponents will try to use to their advantage.
