FIFA has officially announced the results of the individual voting following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup. The finalists, who defeated the Argentine national team, demonstrated absolute dominance, claiming three of the four major individual awards of the tournament. Rodri: The Architect of Victory
The most prestigious award — the "Golden Ball" for the best player of the World Cup — was awarded to the captain of the Spanish national team, Rodri. The midfielder became the key figure in Luis de la Fuente's team, effectively serving as the main architect of the success of the "Furia Roja".
Throughout the tournament, Rodri demonstrated phenomenal consistency. He completely controlled the tempo of the game in midfield and took on leadership roles in the most critical moments of the match, which became the decisive factor for receiving the highest award.
Simón and Cubarsí: Defensive Records
The Spanish team also claimed awards recognizing defensive reliability. The "Golden Glove" for the best goalkeeper went to Unai Simón. The goalkeeper set an absolute record in World Cup history by achieving 7 "clean sheets" in a single tournament. Furthermore, Simón recorded the longest streak of goals conceded without conceding a goal in the history of the World Cup.
The award for the best young player was won by 19-year-old central defender Pau Cubarsí.
