A new humanitarian drama is unfolding on the Zaporizhzhia direction. Soldiers of the 108th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, which is under the operational command of the 118th Separate Mechanized Brigade, recorded a video appeal with a desperate plea for help. According to them, the fighters have been holding positions for more than six months without rotation, and logistical routes to them are practically cut off.
Critical exhaustion and health problems
The situation on the front line is described as catastrophic. Defenders report that they have been in trenches for 3 to 9 months. Due to the blockade of ground routes, it has become incredibly difficult to deliver provisions and medicines. Relatives of the soldiers confirm that the servicemen are in a state of severe exhaustion. The main method of food delivery now is drones, but this volume is insufficient for full nutrition.
Particular concern is the health of the soldiers. Among the personnel there are fighters with severe chronic diseases and consequences of micro-strokes, who desperately need qualified medical assistance, which is unavailable under current conditions.
Reasons for stagnation: mines and FPV drones
The Regional Directorate of Territorial Defense Forces «East» confirmed that they are aware of the crisis situation and are taking measures. Additional unmanned aerial vehicle crews were involved to deliver water, ammunition and fuel.
However, the command points to objective reasons preventing the immediate withdrawal of personnel. The main obstacle is cited as the extremely difficult security situation: access routes are heavily mined, and enemy FPV drones are constantly exerting fire influence, making ground logistics and rotation practically impossible.
History repeats itself: precedents with the 14th Brigade
The situation with the 108th Brigade is not an isolated case. In the spring of 2026, a loud scandal erupted around the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade. Then relatives of the fighters publicly stated about critical conditions: lack of rotation, lack of food and forced consumption of rainwater.
Then public resonance and the intervention of the General Staff led to the dismissal of the brigade command. However, in June 2026, a new scandal flared up around the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade with demands for immediate rotation for fighters who had been on the front line for more than nine months. Now history is repeating itself in another unit, calling into question the effectiveness of systemic logistics and rotation on certain sections of the front.
