The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has exposed the operations of an agent of the occupation administration who attempted to evade justice in the capital. In Kyiv, the former deputy head of the occupation administration of Alchevsk — a city temporarily seized by Russian forces in the Luhansk region — has been detained.
Career on Occupied Territory
According to investigative data, the suspect's collaboration with Russian occupiers began as early as 2014. During that period, she was an active member of the banned Party of Regions and held the position of head of the city education department in Alchevsk. Following Russia's invasion in 2022, the woman headed a structural unit of the occupation authorities.
However, prior to the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, the official decided to leave the city. The reason for her departure was a personal conflict with the new "mayor" appointed by the occupiers. Fleeing the combat zone, she moved to Kyiv, where she settled with her children.
Life in the Shadows and Exposure
In the capital, the former official managed to hide her past. She found employment at a social service center, where she continued to live an ordinary life until she was exposed by counterintelligence. During searches at her workplace and residence, investigators seized computer equipment and smartphones containing irrefutable evidence of collaboration with the enemy.
She has now been officially notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason). For this crime, the suspect faces imprisonment for up to 15 years with confiscation of property.
Context of SBU Operations
This arrest is part of a series of successful counterintelligence operations. Earlier in early July, the SBU thwarted an attempt to steal the latest Ukrainian developments in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles. At that time, a lecturer at the Ministry of Defense Academy was caught spying. Additionally, in Lviv, an agent of the Russian Federation was detained who planned to blow up a workshop at a defense enterprise, disguising the sabotage as an industrial accident.
